The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County is honoring our community’s ancestors with two Soul Strolls next Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6pm and 8pm. Strolls will take place in Riverside Cemetery, the city’s largest burial ground. Located on North Main and Metcalfe streets, Riverside Cemetery became Hopkinsville’s official resting place in 1854. With its first grave in a small family plot in 1837, this graveyard has grown to include 65 acres and close to 25,000 burials.
Following in the traditions of All Saints’ Day and Dia de los Muertos, the Museum will celebrate some of those who called this community their home. We will pay our respects by remembering these folks by telling stories of their lives and of their contributions to Hopkinsville and beyond.
The walking tour will cover approximately 1 mile and will last approximately 90 minutes. Tours will begin at 6pm and 8pm. Each tour will be limited to 25 people. Tickets are $15 per person and $12 for Museum Members. Purchase tickets at the Pennyroyal Area Museum or online through our Shopify store.
