Kanarr Richee, Pastor of Students and Community Engagement at Edgewood Baptist Church, will survey some classic authors such as Booker T Washington, W.E.B. Dubois, Angela Davis and others discussing education in the African American Community. Drawing on his experience teaching math in Christian County High School as well as current work tutoring students in public schools he will lead a discussion on how some of these ideas can help us reflect on the question: what is essential to the community in education? How does the African American Experience in education inform our current situation and address our students’ needs?
