On the night of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere borrowed a mare from Deacon John Larkin and rode into history. She carried him thirteen miles from Charlestown to Lexington through the April darkness. Revere was captured. The horse was seized by British officers and never returned.
History remembered the rider. The horse became a footnote.
